Long day of travel to leave wonderful Greve and get rental car returned and all our bags onto train to Austria. Goes to show that what we worry about often fails to materialize. Good that we got up early however even though the trip to Firenze was easy. No traffic to speak of and we found the station easily. John dropped me and bags and wound his way back to car rental. Broken tail light cost us $300 but we made it. Train station was crowded but easy. Getting bag up onto train is not, but we did it and got into our seats. LOVE train travel in Europe. We had to change trains somewhere but I can’t remember where and then we got on another train with a compartment all to ourselves to get to Austria. Two German men joined us somewhere along the way and proved to be invaluable in giving us tips about the rest of our trip and saved us a wrong turn.
Beautiful ride through the Dolomites and then into the Alps. Nice to see a change of scenery which keeps things interesting and me from getting too homesick. That happens mostly when we stop moving or when I see little kids that remind me of home.
