Friday, May 27. Our last day in this lovely old city. John had a hair cut and I another massage. I fought with the shower again and lost – no pressure and no hot water. I finally gave up. We will be in a very nice apartment in Rome with hot water and good pressure. Today Paola invited us to have lunch at her apartment. Which by the way was VERY nice. She shares it with a well behaved dog named, April and a cat that never showed herself. We had pasta first (what else) with pesto sauce made with almonds and then sausage, chicken, potatoes and beans. We drove to get a gelato, to preview two B&Bs for guests next year to come early or stay later and then back to home – Casa Petrarca. More packing this afternoon then off to our last dinner in Arezzo. After dinner we took a slow walk about town, saying goodbye to all our restaurant friends. When we got to Caffe Costanti (again, our favorite) it was crowded with very upbeat music playing. There had to be about 100 people standing and sitting while enjoying the two adjoining restaurants. (I posted two videos of the crowd and the music. If you didn’t get to see them – I had to delete them because I have so little storage left on my iPhone, I must be a little selective.) We enjoyed the lively evening with an after dinner drink and then back to bed.
It isreally great to have been somewhere for a length of time and really get comfortable in the community.- You don’t have to walk around with a map in hand to find your way.——And you are able to explore “Local” establishments and areas. A real “Vacation”—not just a frenzied sight seeing trip.
