Tuesday, May 24. A traveling day: Orvieto here we come. This is another small hilltop town between Arezzo and Rome. We arrived there about noon and our hostess, Selita, had to pick us up at the train station because, after waiting 30 minutes, there was no taxi. While we were waiting for a taxi John walked down the street to get the phone number to call a taxi. I waited by the train station and I kept hearing this phone ringing and ringing. Finally I decided to answer it – it was John calling the taxi pickup phone at the station. We had a big laugh!
Selita and her husband own Casa Selita, a B&B of 5 bedrooms, located about 5 minutes from the train station. John found her and the B&B on line several years ago. He likes to visit her and Orvieto every year. He made our room reservation – we got the last 2 rooms. The B&B is very charming and comfortable. The rooms were clean and crisp with heaters and hot RUNNING water. Heaven! We walked through the town, did some shopping, ate another wonderful lunch, all while admiring the most beautiful of all the Duomos. The outside is magnificent while the inside not so much. We had dinner at a restaurant recommended by Selita and it was really wonderful.
